We're Running for SRP Council District 6

Today, we're officially announcing our campaign for SRP Council District 6. We're John and Sara Travise, and we're running because we believe District 6 ratepayers deserve better.

When we moved to Arizona in 2020, we were excited to finally go solar. Arizona averages over 300 sunny days a year—it seemed like a no-brainer. But what should have been straightforward turned into a frustrating, expensive ordeal. The paperwork. The delays. And then we discovered SRP's punitive rate structures for solar customers.

That experience started us down a path of asking questions. And the more we learned, the more we realized how much is broken in how SRP operates:

  • No external oversight. Unlike APS, which answers to the Arizona Corporation Commission, SRP governs itself. The board IS the oversight.
  • A 1903 voting system. Most ratepayers can't vote in SRP elections. Only landowners with water rights—or registered voters living on such property—get a say.
  • Rising costs, stagnant accountability. Bills keep going up. Large industrial users get special deals. And regular ratepayers foot the bill for infrastructure expansion.

We're running together because SRP Council has three seats representing District 6. One voice can be ignored. Two voices working in coordination can start to shift the conversation.

John brings over a decade of Army service and a career in cybersecurity—he knows what real accountability looks like and isn't afraid to ask hard questions. Sara combines artistic creativity with technical expertise—she sees the patterns others miss and won't accept "that's just how it's done" as an answer.

We're not backed by utility PACs or corporate interests. We're funded by neighbors like you. This is a grassroots campaign, and we're asking for your help:

  • If you can vote: Mark April 7, 2026 on your calendar.
  • If you can volunteer: We need door knockers, phone bankers, and people to spread the word.
  • If you can donate: Every dollar goes directly to reaching voters.

The election is April 7, 2026. That might seem far away, but change starts now. Join us.

— John & Sara Travise
